Summary: From 1938-1940, the National Park Service acquired these historic maps, dated 1806(1826?)-1937, from other government agencies and private concerns. The National Park Service collected these maps to plan for the park development and to study the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Canal history. This series consists of manuscript and published topographic maps, land acquisition maps, canal route maps and canal facility location maps.
