Summary: The General Assembly incorporated the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company on 22 February 1823. On 20 February 1833 the General Assembly passed an act authorizing the state treasurer to buy 2,500 shares of the company's stock, redeemable in 1850. The certificates in this series verify the numbers of shares redeemed.
